Dr. Richard Barnwell, DVM, has been the owner of Highway 92 Animal Hospital since 1996. A native of New York, Dr. Barnwell graduated with honors from the prestigious Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983.

After serving on the staff of the North Shore Animal League medical facility on Long Island for several years, he made the decision to transition his career to the South, where he met and married his wife, Cindy, in 1989. They have one son, Nick, who lives with his wife and little daughter in Denver, CO. The family also includes 3 dogs (Chip, Sadie, and Max) and 1 cat (Clarice).

Dr. Barnwell’s top priority is to provide high-quality medical and surgical care to all of his patients. He strives to treat every pet as though it were his own and to offer each client outstanding and personal service. Because he is a solo practitioner, Dr. Barnwell is privileged to know most of his clients and patients well, and his hospital exudes a family atmosphere.

On a typical day, it is not uncommon to find him sitting on an exam room floor, interacting with his furry patients while conversing with their owners. He truly loves animals and is committed to keeping them healthy and happy.
