Dr. Howard

Dr. Laura J. Howard was born in Colombia and raised in Florida. She developed a passion for animals at a young age when she would bring birds and other wildlife homes to try to nurse them back to health.

She went to the University of North Florida where she got her bachelor’s degree in Biology. She went to the University of Florida (Go Gators!) where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Dr. Howard completed two shelter surgical externships in North Carolina and Colorado during her time at UF. She also earned her Certificate in Shelter Medicine and became Fear Free Certified. Once she graduated veterinary school in 2020, she practiced at an emergency and general practice clinic for a couple of years in downtown Atlanta. Her interests are soft tissue surgery, urgent care, general practice, and internal medicine.

When Dr. Howard is not working, she is spending her time with her husband, two cats (Samson & Lucille), two dogs (Henry and Mabel), a crested Gecko (Archer), and backyard chickens (Tortilla, Monica, Doris, and Martha). She is also an avid baker, and you can find her tending to her sourdough starter and trying new recipes on the weekends.
